Parking Lot Guidelines

How drop-off, pick-up and parking work at Forest Edge — and how we keep everyone safe getting in and out.

Slow down

FES has an increasing number of kids and families who walk and bike to school. The speed limit on Brassica is 15 mph maximum in the school zone. Even when there are no flashing lights or crossing guards, you must come to a full stop at the crosswalk until every child has reached the other side safely.

Pull forward

In the carpool line, pull as far forward as you can. It keeps traffic moving and prevents congestion in the passing lane.

Stay behind the wheel

Remain in your car while your student gets in or out. If your child needs help, park in the parking lot instead.

Use the crosswalk

Walk from the parking lot to the school by the designated crosswalk. Crossing elsewhere can mean crossing two lanes of traffic, and pedestrians are especially hard to see in spring and fall when the vegetation is tall.

Exit right

All vehicles must turn right onto Brassica when leaving. Brassica is a two-way street, but the school exit is right-turn-only. It prevents congestion and improves safety.

Traffic Flow

The lanes are marked below. If you are unsure which one you want: the blue lane is for drivers staying in their car, and the orange lane is for anyone parking and walking in.

Aerial view of the Forest Edge school grounds with traffic lanes marked. A blue drop-off lane enters from Brassica Road on the right, loops in front of the school and rejoins the exit. An orange park-and-walk lane runs alongside it into the car park. A yellow lane on the left of the building is for buses only. The exit onto Brassica at the bottom right is marked right turn only.

■ Blue — carpool lane

The drop-off and pick-up lane, for drivers who are staying in their vehicle.

■ Orange — park and walk

The route for cars using the parking lot. Park here if you are walking your child in.

■ Yellow — buses only

Reserved for buses. Please do not drive or queue in this lane.

Questions about drop-off or pick-up are best directed to the school office. If something here looks out of date, let the PTO know and we will get it corrected.
